Born in the south Wales valleys David was brought up in Porthcawl on the Welsh coast via Canada. He trained at  Arts Ed, London graduating in 1995 from the musical theatre school after playing such diverse roles as Hines in The Pajama Game, Oberon in  A Midsummer Night's Dream and Dr Chasuble in The Importance of Being Earnest.  Since then, David has established himself as a versatile physical character actor. 

      As one of the Sontaran in the fourth series of Doctor Who, David helped to bring the cult characters back to life under the  direction of Douglas Mackinnon . He was also seen in the last of the award winning EGG Credit Card commercials as Guinea Pig and appeared in Bear Behaving Badly for CBBC. Other credits include Ed in Kefi Chadwicks' latest play The Deal directed by Bad Girls and Footballers Wives writer Guy Picot, Leopold in The Royal Opera's lavish production of Der Rosenkavalier which he is reprising for Christmas 2009(opposite) at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden ; Bacchai directed by Sir Peter Hall at Londons' National Theatre (Olivier) and Tommy the all-singing, all-dancing cat in Dick Whittington and his Amazing Cat at The Buxton Opera House.

      A versatile physical performer, David created the roles of Stan and Hangle for the first national tour of the childrens' television programme Wizadora for Felgates/AT productions, and played Mr Jolly in Playdays for BBC Felgate Productions .

Other television appearances include Ramone the Happy Feet dancing penguin on Blue Peter, The Rob Brydon Show aka Except for Viewers in England and Babylon By passed  for BBC Television.

David has directed and choreographed for AT Productions and choreographed the national tour of Pulling for Cry Help Productions.
